DREADED DARKNESS By Azubuike Kingsley Izuchukwu

The dreaded of darkness mailed for a visit again

Darkness, we couldn’t apprehend promised

Warm kisses and roses from distant

Great silence was the darkness

Blinding was its black cloak

Stars “the little eyes of the night”

Hibernate in extreme discomfort

Helpless was the daring moon

Hanged in the brutal eclipse coupling

In our ears, little black escorts announced

The arrival in songs we don’t approved

Beside, we clapped disgruntled

Thankfully, they reported back

With our pound of blood as warning

Darkness, myth was it strength

Unforgiving was it blazing wrath

Never was it defeated by us

This is why it revenges were legendary

When we offend it with light

Light! It Achilles heels from the start

Rather all our fuels are wet

As some insisted it should be better

And we ‘victim’ died muted.
